Dental implants - What To Expect
When considering implants you will be able to see Nicholas to discuss you dental needs and set out the treatment goals you wish to achieve. Nicholas will then carry out a full clinical assessment using intra oral scanners and 3D imaging of the bone of the jaw to accurately assess and tailor the best treatment options for you in order to achieve those goals.
You will receive a full treatment plan explaining your alternative options along with details of the stages and cost of the treatment you have choose.
You surgery with then be carried out here at the practice where you will receive our full care and support to make the process as pleasant as possible. Types of implants
Neodent
Neodent implants are part of the Straumann group and have for the past 30yrs become a leading dental implant system with over 3 million implants sold worldwide. There knowledge and experience has produced an extremely high quality implant with excellent long term survival rates.
Bicon
The Bicon short implant is another long established implant system with 38 years of clinical use. The short nature of these implants allows for safe use around vital structures and minimize the need for bone grafting procedures that would otherwise add an additional cost and complication to the treatment. They can often be placed in areas where there is insufficient bone to place other implant systems.
PRF Platelet rich fibrin
Implants need bone to be placed in, unfortunately this bone can be lost when a tooth is removed or over time if the tooth has been missing for some time. If there is insufficient bone we often have to replace this bone with either processed animal bone or a man-made artificial form of bone. Dr Sherwin can offer PRF this is where a small amount of your blood is taken and processed in a centrifuge to produce a platelet rich fibrin clot, rich in the most important components of your normal blood clot. Placed in a socket after tooth removal PRF can reduce the amount of bone lost or mixed with artificial bone improve the uptake of any bone grafting procedure.
